Evidence-based professional learning for formal & informal educational leaders
Offerings
Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
Facilitated learning communities for formal/informal leaders and alumni of our SSU leadership programs
PLCs provide facilitated communities within which leaders and aspiring leaders can share dilemmas of practice, dig into emergent challenges in the field, and take on shared learning together. The collaborative community of a PLC allows for leaders to both learn from each other and share expertise gleaned from their leadership experiences. PLCs are offered in fully online, hybrid, and in-person formats.
Mentoring/Coaching
A variety of mentoring/coaching opportunities for both formal and informal educational leaders
Typically, a CEL@SSU coach will work one-on-one with a leader such as a principal across the academic year. This includes monthly touch points, focused on supporting the leader in addressing pressing needs or providing specific and targeting feedback on leadership work in context. Coaching provides the opportunity for leaders to develop their practice, reflect, gain support, learn from an outsider perspective, and more. Coaches provide this confidential support through a variety of modalities, including in-person, hybrid, and virtual.
Collaborative Projects
Customized, collaborative projects to meet individual districts’ leadership learning needs
These projects are co-created with district leaders, focusing on local needs. Often, such projects include a collaborative design stage, a needs assessment stage, specifically-designed professional learning experiences across multiple months or an academic year, and an evaluation/reflection stage.
Collaborative district projects may:
stretch across multiple years or be smaller in scope.
focus on a subset of district leaders (such as just school leaders or just instructional coaches) or focus on all district leaders across many roles.
Depending on needs, larger professional learning sessions may be complemented with smaller group sessions or one-on-one support across the course of the project.
Events
Leadership learning events for formal and informal leaders, including our SSU educational leadership program grads
Events include author talks, research presentations, or curated opportunities that provide just-in-time learning related to cultural/political events.
